Modern Forest Schools


2002, the actual label 'Forest School' was established


2003, Open College Network Diploma course set up by Forestry Commission in Wales

A faster course than the Bridgewater degree, and more towards apprenticeship.


2011, Forest Education Initiative courses set up in Scotland by the Forestry Commission in Scotland, educating to diploma qualifications like the previous set up Wales courses.


Due to the Bridgewater degree. Forestry Commission diploma courses in Wales and Scotland, and Findhorn's program, many people were graduating themselves as Forest School Teachers

But there were no administration bodies representing them and setting standards, as us humans like to formerly do ... so ...


2012 Forest School Association formed in Carlisle, England

2016 Irish Forest Schools Association formed in Sligo, and has now spread out into over 30 schools around the Republic.

2018 Northern Ireland Forest School Association formed in Bangor, and how represents more than 10 schools there.
